Take Your Meds- It's A New Book Review:--
With a nice rhythmic  prose Fireworks and Aliens will delight a child with the antics of one rebellious piece of firework and visiting aliens. The colors of the illustrations are very bright and eye catching.

The Perfect Solution -Isn't!, February 8, 2011

By Patricia Hardy "patticake 545" (New Orleans,LA USA) - See all my reviews

Amazon Verified Purchase- This review is from: The Perfect Solution-A suspense of choices (Kindle Edition) The story dealing with the abduction of a pre-K student from a day care center shows the necessity for more stringent safety measures to be applied to all day care centers. The characters are sympathetically protrayed and you do feel concern for their perdicament, but you just wanted to shake the people who ran the day care center and ask "What were you thinking" I would recommend this to anyone who would enjoy a well-paced suspense story.

Losing the Hate-by Simon Palmer

Take Your Meds-It's A New Book Review:--

Losing the Hate is a story of sexual abuse, self-hate, and a road to recovery. It kept me on edge praying his abusers would be caught and made me really sad for the life he lead because of the abuse.  Simon Palmer deserves great recognition for his soul baring autobiography. Though he has taken much of the blame for his sexual abuse and the course his life took from that, onto his own shoulders, I can only blame the trusted adults who abused him. Abuse changes the person a child was born to become. Losing the Hate could only have been written by a man hoping in his heart that his story would help another and I am sure it would. I recommend it be read highly.

A Grasshopper in the Head-Marina Markovic

Take Your Meds-It's A New Book Review:--
Marina Markovic uses the unsympathetic actions of a child against small insects and the voice of a grasshopper as his conscious to teach the child empathy and the value in the choices he makes. The idea was pretty good and the story is a quick read.

Gimme Got Drowned-by Dawn Reif

Take Your Meds-It's A New Book Review

In writing the children's stories, Dawn Reif made me remember the words my mother used to tell me as a child when I began begging for things or whining. In each story a lesson is learned about over indulgence  and begging. Gimmee Got Drowned & Iwanna Already Has It are two short stories giving accurate depiction of the spirit of the child.

The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks

#
Take Your Meds-It's A New Book Review:
If you have ever read the story of Henrietta Lacks told by Rebecca Skloot (if you haven't you should)there is no way you would ever forget it. More than learning of the great attributions Mrs. Lacks cells have given to science, you learn of the 'lack' of respect, attention, and financial gain contributed to her family. It hurts the heart and sensibilities to know how rich others became while Henrietta's family barely made it through life. The book also informs the readers of the mistreatment in medical studies. practices and research performed on males and female African-Americans. This is a must read book and will soon be made into a movie through HARPO productions. The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks Named by more than 60 critics as one of the best books of 2010. Amazon
