The people just walking on the edge never realizing, all it takes is a small slip and you're caught.  When a Man Loves a Woman, is a life shared from many points of views. Through each main character I was able to experience the story through their own pain and interpretation.  .

 Oh my God, in this book,the level of domestic abuse began to seem never ending and wrapped around everyone. In the arms of a black widow in the form of a devious, beautiful, broken man named Avery.
Tumika Cain did an awesome job pulling this reader into the story, wrapping me in as easy as Alicia was wrapped into romanticism and abuse with Avery. When a Man Loves a Woman, shows you the layers of danger involved when not paying attention to the signs and the monsters which can develop when everyone decides to keep their mouth shut.

Her silent tears is the sad horrific tale of a woman abused from childhood into her adult life. Far from being an original story it is distinguishable by the fact it is based on a true story. Through seemingly inconsequential daily life incidents we are invited into the life of the victim through flashbacks. Throughout the story I began to wonder if the child subconsciously misbehave and hurt herself in a desperate attempt to release herself from the life she was living. It made me swear to myself to pay more attention to the child who always seems to be crying for nothing. You never know what they are going through at home. This is a good, but very hard story to read without wanting to hurt someone.

Where Were You by Rhonda Ramsey

 Where Were You- is a study in life returning to its source. Though the story seems as if it is about complete strangers, it is apparent each in some way or another needs or is a part of the other. There are a secrets which binds them all. Beyond the drugs, physical, and mental abuse Christian proves to be the dependable person his family needs and the catalyst to destroy the secrets. I liked the way the author pulled all of the lives together so really one story was told. That story is of abuse, silence, and secrecy which spreads and should be stopped at the onset.

Just Beneath the Surface by Rhonda Ramsey

Just Beneath the surface is a study in abuse. You automatically know this will be a story about domestic abuse; you just have to wonder how it will be told. R.H. Ramsey does a terrific job in her telling. Like the peeling of an onion, just as one layer of abuse is revealed another is seen just beneath the surface. As I read the story I began to see the problem started in subtle ways. What seemed like a loving, fun filled family was really a group of people always ticking at each other. Name calling and teasing between brother and sister, snide, belittling remarks between the parents, and a woman who doesn’t have respect for the man she is with is a disaster waiting to happen.
Kendall harbors resentment and lack of respect for the easy going man she has been with from high school. Michael feeds her resentment by having excuses for not marrying her after 14 years of living together. The children dislike each other, jealous because of the obvious favoritism for one by the opposite parent. Just as I thought everything was about to blow up, the story took a totally different turn and the parents separated, revealing a level of an entirely different form of abuse.
In this deeper level, Ramsey decided to tell the story through the alternating voice of the women. Kendall finds and marries a new man and will do anything and accepts every thing in order to keep this man. Even to the point of ignoring her children and the ability to save her daughter from following in her footsteps.
This is definitely a book to read. Just when you expect one thing to happen, another layer is revealed and you are pulled deeper and further beneath the surface.

Unheard Cries-A Marriage Horror by Joyce Mitchell

 Unheard Cries is an engaging story of the Lerner family. It focuses particularly on the relationship between the Cherokee beauty, Emma, and her abusive husband Aaron. It also reveals how some of the most urgent cries of the heart are often never heard by the outside world. Also revealing how one love gone wrong can affect the lives of many people. Unheard Cries is a book that reaches into the dark lonely hearts of many that are never quite able to get the attention that is needed for help in their troubled life.

 Funny how easily physical and mental abuse can be excused when you think you are loved by and in love with someone. This is a very poignant story written by Ms. Mitchell. I enjoyed reading it. A great read. I can't wait to read more by this author.
