 I loved the story and I actually dislike fantasy kinda books-the ridiculous difficult names of the characters and places always keep me from being connected to the story because of having to stop to get the names in my head. I like how DJ Smith let me creep into the story right along with the characters, was happy not to have to do a stumble over pronunciations, and totally enjoyed Secrets Beyond Scymaria. I could feel the humor, anxiety, and everything the characters were going through.
My inner (wannabe) botanist was so excited about the concept of the book, the save the planet, conversations without oration and a small town with a protected secret.
I think people will be surprised at who the "friend" is. A short story, but a good read.

The Whale Whisperers by Ed Drury

Take Your Meds- It's A New Book Review:--

 The Whale Whisperers of Ensorclea is a book of so many different genre's you are entertained from the first page. There's murder, intrigue, treason, fantasy,science, romance and best of all communication with animals. Ed did such a good job introducing and exposing the layers of each of the characters, I had to research to see if there really were indigenous people who believed they could talk to their ancestors, the fish. The story sneaks on you with quiet, fanciful beauty. Well written, gorgeous descriptions and before you know it you are ensnared into another world.

I became really embroiled in the chaos of the king's life, trying to figure out who killed his wife, excited with Lore trying to help her father move on and find a new love and totally entranced with the idea of listening to your surroundings and learning from everything. As the story clearly drew to an end, I reluctantly continued reading, totally wishing there would be more. If there is one thing I will remember from The Whale Whisperer of Ensorclea is the fact 'information is never lost'. A small thought with a huge wow and insightful concept.This is a tale deserving of a second part.

Grimsley Hollow-Eve of the Beginning by Nicole Storey

The perfect book to introduce you to the world of Grimsley Hollow. I had already read Grimsley Hollow-The Chosen One and was totally entranced and hooked into the life of Gage and everyone involved in the story. When I heard the novel 'Eve of the Beginning' was coming out, I wondered how a prologue would benefit a story already written. Well, it fit perfectly. Nicole's writing skills weaved in the plot from both books so well, whichever story you read first only heightens the urge to read the other.
Eve tells the history of Grimsley Hollow and why Gage an autistic boy is the only one with the ability to save the inhabitants of this fantasy world. I loved it.

Grimsley Hollow-The Chosen One by Nicole Storey

What Grimsley Hollow was able to establish throughout the book was the fact everyone, is important, no matter what difference or disability they may have. Even though he has been labeled with the word 'autistic', Gage 'The Chosen One' is the best person to be the hero in this book. Without what the world deems as a 'defect' there is no way he would be so in tuned with his surroundings, nor have the ability to show empathy for others.

I love the story line, the way Gage's special abilities are brought out, and the way I found myself part of the fantasy and routing for the young warriors.  Usually I avoid fantasy like a plague, but heard so many good things about the book I had to read it. I'm glad I did. Nicole did such a fantastic job with her descriptions the fantasy land seemed so real I didn't have to force my imagination to see the settings. I can't wait to read the next books in the series.
